In 1994, City of Essendon and eastern part of the City of Keilor were merged and Moonee Valley was formed in Victoria, within the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Australia.
Airport West is one of the 14th suburbs of Moonee Valley and lies 11 kms north west of Melbourne. On its south is the Calder Freeway and in the east is Tullamarine Freeway.
It is named so due to its position to the west of Essendon Airport, Melbourne’s first general airport, established in 1970 and used for light planes, charter and freight planes.
It is the only locality in Australia which does not itself contain an airport though called Airport West.
It has a population of about 7000 and it boasts of some beautiful homes both in term of their design and location, some of them being on a hillside.
